RIM’s stock may be slowly declining in a never ending pit of oblivion, but the age-old adage that they only make business devices looks surprisingly true with the latest news about the US Government.
According to The Washington Post, nearly half a million federal workers (the equivalent of civil servants in the UK) are still carrying around and depending on their BlackBerry smartphones. What’s more surprising is that President Barack Obama, one of the most powerful men in the world, also sticks by his BlackBerry device.
Casey Coleman, Chief Information Officer at the General Services Administration, said: We appreciate RIM’s focus on security, which is paramount for government use,” whilst also commenting that future usage could change with the introduction of BlackBerry Fusion for iOS and Android and that the GSA places a “priority on adoption where appropriate of innovative new technologies.”
RIM may have the lead now amongst US federal workers but it clearly doesn’t look like it’ll last too long!
